Shipping

Please note any 3 Day Air, 2 Day Air,  Next Day Air Saver or Ground shipment is only guaranteed by 11 pm to a residence or at home business. Ground delivered to a commercial property is guaranteed by 3 pm.


Next Day Air Packages are guaranteed by 10:30 Am- 12:00 PM or 11 pm in remote areas. Exact guaranteed times are available on UPS.com or by calling our customer service number. 866-532-2722.


Also please note on all holidays and peak shipping times ups allow a 90-minute window past normal commit time.

UPS Capital Loss Coverage

The loss coverage option is available at checkout. If you select the loss coverage option at checkout, we, in turn, add the UPS capital loss coverage to your order on your behalf. All claims involving the loss coverage follow the policies and procedures stated in the UPS capital loss agreement. Please note we are not the ones providing the loss coverage. We are merely making the loss coverage available to you as the customer. If you decline the loss coverage we are not liable to refund or replace any order.

How to Order Online

Select Items and Place an Order Online
Selecting products and placing an order at Maryland Blue Crab Express is quick, easy and above all, completely secure. Follow these helpful steps to complete your online order. If you are merely making a shopping list, you will follow all steps except "Completing Your Online Purchase."

Placing an Item in Your Cart
Once you have found the item you want, simply enter in the quantity and click the "Add to Cart" button. This button is located at the bottom of the Product Detail Page, just to the bottom of the product image. If you do not enter a number in the Quantity box, it defaults to "1".

When you have finished adding items to your Shopping Cart, click the Checkout link (located on the right-hand panel on every page of our site). This begins your checkout process.

Changing Item Quantities
If you wish to buy multiple quantities of an item you have placed in your Shopping Cart, change the number in the "Quantity" box. Please click the "Update" button again for each change you make in the quantity. The quantity does not add the new number to your current total, but instead replaces it. You can view your Shopping Cart at any time during the shopping process by clicking on the View Cart link on the right-hand panel.

If you prefer to wait until another day to buy the items in your Shopping Cart, Maryland Blue Crab Express saves those items (using a cookie) and keeps them active for three (3) days. You may continue to add items to your Shopping Cart if you return to the site within three days.

Removing Items From Your Cart
Delete unwanted items from your shopping cart by simply clicking on the "X" button, located on the right side of the item in your shopping cart.

Completing Your Online Purchase when Purchasing Products Online

A note about the Fair Credit Billing Act. Under this act, your bank limits your total loss and cannot hold you liable for more than fifty dollars of reported fraudulent charges. In the event your card is used in a fraudulent manner, you must notify your bank or card issuer immediately and in accordance with its reporting rules and procedures.

We encourage you to feel comfortable using your credit card to conduct commerce on our site. If you wish, you may also send us a U.S. Postal Money Order (only) or personal checks. Personal checks will delay your order as we must wait for your funds to clear before we ship any merchandise.

Please allow an additional 7-10 business day for shipping of your merchandise if paid by personal check. To order by check, just print the order form with your shopping cart contents from the order confirmation page and complete the necessary fields, then mail the form to the address below.

Return & Refund Policy

Due to the nature of our business and the products, we offer, items purchased through the MarylandBlueCrabExpress.com website cannot be returned. Maryland Blue Crab Express Co. strives to ship the absolute freshest seafood available anywhere. Every item we sell is carefully inspected before it is packaged and shipped. When your order leaves our facility, it is packed with more than enough refrigerant to prevent spoilage. If our seafood arrives damaged, please contact us immediately. If your order is spoiled or damaged due to negligence by Maryland Blue Crab Express, we will replace it free-of-charge. All concerns must be received within 48 hours of delivery.

If you receive an order that you suspect is spoiled, contact us immediately and please do not discard of any suspected spoilage or damaged products until a representative from Maryland Blue Crab Express is contacted. We may request that you return them to us for inspection. If the size or quality of your Blue Crab order should come into question please take photos of the crabs next to a ruler or tape measure point to point and email them to customerservice@marylandbluecrabexpress.com. We will not review any cases without photo documentation.

Since Maryland Blue Crab Express offers nearly all perishable products, shipping ALL our seafood in the freshest condition takes thought and careful planning. We've come up with our own fresh gel pack system that keeps perishables cool in transit for up to 48 hours. We take care to arrange your seafood in specialized boxes designed to keep your order in the freshest possible condition upon arrival. We are dedicated to providing you with the freshest hard shell crabs and seafood on the web, therefore, if you have any questions about our Return and Refund Policy, please feel free to call us at (866) 532-2722.

Since crabbing is depended on conditions beyond our control Maryland Blue Crab Express reserves the right to pack and equivalent dollar amount of crabs to fulfill orders.

In the rare occurrence, we would find grounds to accept returns the product must be returned in its entirety to qualify for a refund.

Crab Cake Policy

All crab cakes are weighed at time of production. All weights are checked using a calibrated and licensed scale. Due to a moisture content of the crab meat weights can vary after they are instantly quick frozen. Crab cakes can have a plus or minus one oz variance. In most cases, they become overweight but rarely can be underweight due to the freezing process.

Dry Ice Can cause blue crabs and product to freeze. It is used to ensure safe shipping. No refunds will be issued for fresh product freezing. The product can be thawed under refrigeration and will not affect the quality. 

 

We provide a year round supply of blue crabs and crab meat. While our signature crabs and crabmeat is always product of the USA we fish many states to abide by fishing seasons and weather. We crab in Maryland, Virginia, Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi. Our crab meat picking houses are location in Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Louisiana. This ensures we have a bountiful supply of fresh crab meat year round. We do posses a valid Maryland Crabbing License. 

 

MBCE Order Cancellation 

All orders cancellations and changes must be made 24 hours before order ship date. 

 

Product Shipping Disclaimer

 

On orders shipping to areas with high temperatures, and during peak holidays where shipping can be delayed DRY ICE may be used to ensure a safe shipment. Dry ice can freeze the product. Due to how fast and how cold dry ice is the product can be thawed and will be just as good as fresh.

 

 

Shipping and Insurance Policies.

MBCE is not responsible for packages once they have been marked as delivered. As these packages must be delivered shipper release the recipient assumes all responsibility for the package once it has been delivered. Insurance does not cover a missing package once it has been delivered.

Packages should be sent to your work or a location where someone is present to received delivery if you are concerned with the package being left.

The recipients also responsible to notify Maryland Blue Crab Express if there are any events in your area such as, weather, storms, power outages, and other catastrophic events that could delay a package. MBCE can not monitor this information and is the full responsibility of the recipient to notify Maryland Blue Crab Express prior to the package shipping.

Insurance will not cover any packages shipped into an area with weather, storms, power outages, and other catastrophic events that could delay a package.

If a package arrives after the commit time of delivery and the contents will still be good and the insurance will only pay for the shipping price. Insurance does not pay for late shipments due to weather or other catastrophic events. During inclement weather, snow, fog, ice, high winds, earthquakes and other natural disasters, packages may be delayed.

Shipping delays are normal and to be expected around the holidays and peak shipping times. These delays can add extra days to transit times. We take steps to pack our packages to last for these delays. We use extra dry ice during peak shipping times and this can cause the product to freeze but not alter the quality.

Notes about Shipping To Alaska and Hawaii

 

  • NOTE Alaska and Hawaii have areas that may be 2 days in transit. (If you are placing orders for those states please contact our customer service team so that we may make special arrangements to your order.
  • Note we need two days notice on these orders to provide the delivery as you request.)
  • All Alaska and Hawaii orders carry an extra $25 fee.

Delivery Recommendations

MBCE recommends that you do not have packages shipped to gated communities or apartments with locked doors or buildings that have restricted access. MBCE nor UPS or Fed Ex can be held liable for packages that are not delivered due to drivers not being able to gain access to the property to make the delivery. We recommend you have the package sent to your work or and alternate location to ensure proper delivery.

  • Next Day Air: Guaranteed by 10:30 to non-remote locations- 12:00 to partially remote locations- End Of Day To very Remote Locations
  • Next Day Air Saver: Guaranteed by End of Day. Guaranteed by 3:00 to registered commercial business only not at home business.
  • Saver is guaranteed by end of day to residential address's.
  • Ground: Guaranteed 1-5 Days Guaranteed by end of day no exact time for delivery.
  • We do not deliver on Monday's.

DELIVERY SCHEDULE

  • Cut-off time for orders placed over the Internet is 3:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.
  • There are no Sunday or Monday deliveries.
  • Saturday delivery is available in most areas. All Saturday deliveries must be shipped using Fed Ex Overnight Air service. In addition, When requesting Saturday delivery to rural areas, please call in advance to check availability.
  • Days that are grayed out on our delivery calendar are not available for selection.
  • We do not ship to P.O Boxes.

 

DELIVERY METHOD

 

  • ALL PACKAGES ARE SENT SHIPPER RELEASE :If no one is present at the time of delivery, packages will be left with no signature required, unless otherwise specified. (Maryland Blue Crab Express can not be held responsible for stolen or lost packages.
  • Our normal shipping carrier is Fed Ex any packages shipped through other providers are not guaranteed, and MBCE may not be able to issue full refunds on these shipments.

Shipping and Handling Information

Maryland Blue Crab Express's primary shipping method on most orders is through Fed Ex Overnight. We reserve the right to ship UPS or FedEX Overnight. For customers who qualify, we may choose to ship orders via UPS Next Day Ground. All orders are charged actual UPS shipping rates. Any changes to tax or shipping and handling charges, if necessary, will be provided in a separate communication along with the reason for the change. Deliveries delayed by carriers due to inclement weather or other extenuating circumstances, or any delay in transit or high amount of shipping volume must be accepted by the purchaser at next available delivery date. Fresh product may be frozen upon receipt in areas that are experiencing extremely cold temperatures. Proper thaw out procedures for seafood should always be followed. Please note Maryland Blue Crab Express will not refund monies due to a fresh product that has frozen due to extremely cold temperatures. 

MBCE is not responsible for packages shipped into snow storms, fog, or any other act of mother nature. It is the customer's responsibility to monitor weather and conditions in your area. We will not refund any money for packages delayed by the above circumstances.

 

MBCE may use dry ice even with 1-day shipment in events of extreme temperatures. Certain days in the summer temperature can reach over 100 degrees in shipping trucks. This dry ice may cause the product to freeze. The product can quickly be thawed under refrigeration. No monies will be refunded for a product that freezes.

Please note 2-5 day shipments the condition of the product can vary. In multi day shipments, the fresh product may become frozen due to the use of dry ice. In multi day air shipments, only limited amounts of dry ice can be used on these shipments. This limited use of dry is due to the airplane restrictions. Product may become thawed in multi day shipments. The product will still be safe to consume. If you desire to have your product arrive specifically fresh or frozen depending on the nature of the product we always recommend that you use our overnight shipping instead of the economical multi day shipping options. 

 

We recommend consuming all fresh seafood in 24 hours

  • Shipping charges are calculated automatically and based on Fed Ex Overnight shipping rates.

Live Crab Disclaimer:
We do our very best to fill live orders with the liveliest crabs available. Normal mortality rates can be in excess of 15% of the entire order, and up as much as the entire order. When shipping a live seafood product Dead loss is expected and Maryland Blue Crab Express cannot be liable for any amount of crab mortality, not limited to but including circumstances that are out of our control, such as; shipping environment due to extreme weather, rough handling, or delayed delivery by the shipper.If you insist on every crab being edible, we strongly recommend ordering your crabs steamed prior to shipment. However, if you insist on live Crabs, please note that we provide no guarantees on the number of Crabs that will arrive to your doorstep alive.  Their condition upon arrival is not guaranteed. No one in our industry will guarantee this. Maryland Blue Crab Express cannot refund any monies for dead loss in live shipments.

* On all live orders you should use the earliest delivery service possible and steam the crabs immediately upon arrival.

*Maryland Blue Crab Express recommends that customers exercise caution ordering live crabs in extremely cold and warm temperatures, as crabs do not live as well at these temperatures. Additionally, in areas where shipping conditions fall below 32 degrees crabs can freeze and cause mortality.

*For all orders taken over the phone MBCE will provide and email confirmation of the order to the customer. It is the CUSTOMER'S sole responsibility to review the order information, such as but not limited to delivery address, zip codes, delivery date, and product information. If you did not receive an order confirmation email you can call 1-866-532-2722 to request another copy to be sent.

*By placing an order over the phone customer agrees to our Terms and Conditions, this includes all shipping policies. These are available on our website as well as over the phone.

*If you order is not delivered by 11:59 P.M on the date of delivery please contact us as we can work to still get the package delivered on time. We cannot guarantee refunds on late deliveries that are not brought to our attention the same day as scheduled delivery.

*Once a package is marked as delivered and verified by UPS is correct delivery neither Fed Ex or Blue Crab Trading is responsible for the package. Please use caution when shipping to apartments or other buildings that share common areas.

 

Shipper Release.

MBCE reserves the right to shipper release any package commercial or residential. This means the package will be left without a signature. This is necessary to ensure a package will not be delivered the next business day.

 

Crab Spicing Policy

Maryland Blue Crab Express tries its best to accommodate crab spicing requests. Due to the extremely high numbers of batches of crabs we steam, we can not guarantee your exact spicing requests. Individual crab spicing may vary and may not be exactly the way you order. Any crabs with no spice requests may have a little spice on them from contact with other crabs. We caution those with an allergy to notify is by phone 48-72 hours prior to your order shipping. No monies will be refunded or reshipments will be given for a disputed amount of crab spice. 

Soft Crab Shipping Policy

 

Our soft crabs are caught locally in Crisfield, MD the crab capital of the world. Preparation. Depending on the time of year soft crabs will either ship dressed or not dressed. If they are not dressed please follow the 3 easy steps on the preparation guide to dressing prior to cooking. Sizes are given for an approximation but may vary by approximately .5 inches or more.

 

Maryland Blue Crab Express cleans all of our soft shell crabs for your convenience after the are measured and graded by size. The cleaning process of the soft shell crabs can cause the crab to shrink up to 1/2 inch in many cases. This is normal and the size was accurate before cleaning. 

Soft Shells can naturally lose legs in the wild. We flash freeze our soft shell crabs to ensure safe shipping.  Legs may also break off during shipping they can still be cooked and served with the soft shell crab. 

No monies will be refunded my Maryland Blue Crab Express for soft crabs that shrink during cleaning or lost legs or claws.  

 

Gift Cards

Unused gift cards will be refunded only within 30 days of purchase. 

 

Deliveries to Gated Communities and Apartments

 

Maryland Blue Crab Express can not be held responsible for deliveries to gated comunities or locked apartments. We will refund no monies or offer any type of compensation for issues arrising from these types of address's.
