Shuck an oyster!

Don’t be intimidated by the hard, rock-like oyster.  With a sure, swift knife movement, you’ll arrive at a briny sweet oyster every time.  Easy and quick!  First, scrub all the grit off the oyster. Locate your heavy gloves for the shucking.  The sharp edges of the shell can easily cut your fingers. Second, hold the oyster with the shell hinge facing you.  Slip the knife into the hinge and twist.  Feel the pop of the opening shell. Third, slide the knife between the shell and oyster to separate the two. Choose the half with the oyster and position on a bed of ice. Prepare for slurping!
